Chacham Ya’akov Sukari [d. 6 Shevat 1908] was the son of Rabbi Shlomo Sukari, Av Beit Din of Damascus, and grandson of the pious kabbalist Rabbi Ya’akov Entebbe z”l. Chacham Ya’akov Sukari would conduct himself according to his father’s ways, arising at midnight and studying Torah in poverty and suffering. He set out for Calcutta and Bombay in 1884, and printed this book there. He ascended to the Land of Israel towards the end of his life. He also authored VaYikra Ya’akov which is comprised of sermons on the Torah (Livorno 1779).
