Royal, artisan work of Pavel Ovchinnikov. Rounded rectangular box with beautiful enamel work on its surface. Designed flower at center of the cover. Two roosters at both ends – their heads protrude serving as handles. Beaded border and flowers in blue and turquoise, supported by four chicken legs on balls. Pavel Ovchinnikov (1830-1888) was a Russian artist and silversmith. He was noted for reintroducing enamel in the 19th century. After his works were enthusiastically accepted, he was invited to become an official supplier of Tsar Alexander III and for the Italian, Danish and French monarchies. His unique works are exhbited in museums and art exhibitions worldwide. 14 cm. long; 6 cm. wide; 6 cm. tall; 0.330 kg. Very fine condition.
