Toldot Yitzhak. Commentary on the Torah by Rabbi Yitzhak Karo. Mantua. [1558]. [1], 81 leaves, 30 cm. On leaf 31 owner’s stamp and ancient hand written comment. The author was the uncle and Rabbi of Rabbi Yosef Karo, the Beit Yosef. The book was printed during the lifetime of the Beit Yosef and the printers wrote on the title page: commentary on the Torah of the Sage, our Rabbi, our teacher, Rabbi Yitzhak Karo, of sainted and blessed memory… elder of the complete sage and righteous one like our Rabbi, the teacher, Rabbi Yosef Karo, of Safed, in Upper Galilee, may it be speedily rebuilt. This error that the author was the elder of the Beit Yosef was repeated in all of the editions of the book. Ancient leather binding with clear decorations of flowers and figures. Two buckles are missing. Strengthening and the addition of white margins to the title page. Tear with a small part missing on the last page. Moth holes in particular in the white margins. Time related stains. In good condition.
