Letter from Rabbi Samson Refael Hirsch. Spiekeroog, 1846.
1 large leaf. 20x32 cm. Written in German, all in the hand and with the signature of Rabbi Hirsch.
Letter regarding the appointment of an assistant for Rabbi Hirsch. This was his second rabbinate. On the 7th of Cheshvan 1841, he was inaugurated as Chief Rabbi of the Ostfriesland district of Hanover. Emden was the seat of this rabbinate. He was only 34 years old. His position included an additional 10 communities.
The letter is dated the 5th of August, 1846 and was written when he was Spiekeroog. It discusses the appointment of Rabbi Dr. Lipman as teacher in the community and assistant rabbi. Rabbi Hirsch's signature includes his title as 'district Rabbi'. Though the letter was also addressed to government officials, he wrote in Hebrew. In 1847, Rabbi Hirsch was elected rabbi of Nikolsburg, and from there he moved to his most noted position as Rabbi of Frankfurt.
The address and postmark are on the exterior side of the letter, one postmark is blurred. Remains of a wax stamp. Fine-very fine condition.

* Letter from Chief Rabbi of Benghazi, Libya on the 29th of Tammuz, 1944, regarding the immigration of Yitzchak ben Maklof Doani. Typewritten and signed by Rabbi Yosef Djaen.
* Letter by Rabbi Moshe Ventura, Rabbi of Alexandria, Egypt, dated the 10th of Adar, 1942, to the Rishon L'Tzion Rabbi Ben Tzion Meir Chai Uziel, regarding a fundraising campaign on behalf of the institutions in Eretz Yisrael. Typewritten and signed by Rabbi Ventura.
* Handwritten letter by Rabbi Chananya Shabtai, Rabbi of Salonica, dated the 25th of Shevat, 1965 to the Rishon L'Tzion Rabbi Yitzchak Nissim. Regarding intermarriage and conversion and the appeal of the 'Agudat L'Hafatzat HaDa'at Yisraelit [!]' in Jerusalem to make it easier to convert.

Letter relating to financial matters, dated 1855. The reverse features a letter to this aforementioned rabbi from R' Yosef Mordechai Cohen. The addressee, Rabbi Pinchas Leib Freudiger rav"d of Alt-Ofen, was the patriarch of the Freudiger rabbinical family, one of the most prominent rabbinical Hungarian families of the time.

Rabbi Yeshaya Asher Zelig Margoliot [1894-1969] was a Torah scholar and a disciple of prominent Jerusalem kabalists, Rabbi Chaim Shaul HaKohen Dweck and Rabbi Shlomo Eliezer Elfandri, who were particularly close to him. He authored tens of works.
Along with a letter from Rabbi Yeshaya Asher Zelig Margoliot's sons regarding their father's works. Jerusalem. 1971. Signed: בני הרב הריא"ז ז"ל רבי יצחק חיים ורבי שלמה אליעזר [his father named this son after his teacher, Rabbi Shlomo Eliezer Elfandri].

Halachic letter from Rabbi Yechezkel Abramsky. London, [1943]. In his hand and with his signature.
The letter is written on the stationery of the London Beit Din and was sent to "my soul-friend, and genius", but does not mention the addressee's name. Rabbi Abramsky begins the letter with a report about his health,and then discusses the halacha regarding a particular get.
Rabbi Yechezkel Abramsky was a Torah genius. He authored the "Chazon Yechezkel" series on the Tosefta. In his later years, he moved to Jerusalem where he led the previous generation of Charedi Jewry.

A "get" and "shtar shlichut l'holechet haget l'isha" signed by Rabbi Yosef Shalom Elyashiv. 1951.
The divorce is written in a scribal hand, with a printed form for sending the get from the Chief Rabbinate of Israel with personal information filled in by hand (of the attached get), signed by dayanim, Rabbi Yosef Shalom Elyashiv, Rabbi Yaakov Kalmas and Rabbi Yosef Kapach.
Rabbi Yosef Shalom Elyashiv was appointed dayan in the Regional Jerusalem rabbinate from Kislev 1951 – just a few months before he signed on this document. A few years later, he was appointed dayan on the Supreme Rabbinical Council. He resigned in 1972, in protest of the ruling on the Langer case. Rabbi Yaakov Kalmas served as Rabbi of Moscow before immigrating to Israel. Rabbi Yosef Kapach was born in Yemen, immigrated to Israel and served as dayan for many years. He authored and edited many works.

Rabbi Elazar Menachem Shach (1898-2002) was the leader of the Lithuanian yeshiva world for close to thirty years. He transferred the traditions of the leading yeshivot in Lithuania before the war to the yeshivot in Eretz Yisrael and authored the "Avi Ezri" series.
