Unique features: Nice, rare copy. The top left corner of the title page bears an inscription in the author's handwriting: "...of the... excellent dayan...Avraham son of Avigdor," who was a Constantinople sage, a disciple of Rabbi Eliezer Nachum and Rabbi Avraham Yaakov Giron, author of Zachor L'Avraham (Constantinople, 1827). This book was the first of many tens of works printed by the Chida. The book was printed as he completed his first fundraising trip to Italy, and it opens with an approbation from his father, father-in-law, teachers, sages of Jerusalem, Italy and Amsterdam.

Condition: The leaves of the book are in very fine condition. White paper, wide margins. Minimal aging stains. Binding in disrepair.

Unique features: Rare. One of the only books that the Chida printed outside of Leghorn. The title page bears the signature and stamp of Rabbi Moshe Delitzsch of Jerusalem, fundraiser for the Ashkenazic kollelim in Western countries in 1882. Leaf 1a features an owner stamp of Eliyahu Chazan, Av Beit Din in Gilbraltar and Alexandria, author of responsa Talumot Lev and Neve Shalom.
Condition: Fine. Light blemish on title page. Aging stains. Minimal worming holes.

Unique features: The leaves of the book bear close to 100 glosses from various writers, some identified and some not. The title page bears a curvy, Sephardic signature alongside a Tunisian signature of Rabbi Moshe Chaim Lumbrozo.
Background: Rabbi Yosef Borgel (1791-1874) was a prominent Tunisian rabbi. He was a proficient, sharp Torah scholar with great wealth and a spectacular memory. He authored the Zera D'Yosef and Vayiken Yosef. He signed his full name on his glosses a number of times. A number of these glosses critique the glosses of the Masbi"r.
Additional glosses by Masbi"r - kabbalist Rabbi Massoud Revah, a Meknes sage who arrived in Tunis in the sixth century. Malchei Rabanan (85,a) quotes a letter that he received from Rabbi Chaim Dovid Serero that begins with profusive honorofics. Rabbi Dovid HaKohen studied the Kikar La'Aden with glosses that were also signed by the Masbir. He quoted them in his Misgav LaDach, 56b (photocopy included). A number of his poems were printed in Tehila L'Dovid and Kol Yaakov. [Refer to Malchei Rabanan and Malchei Tarshish, p. 238].

Content: Responsa and give-and-take correspondence from his oldest son, Rabbi Refael Yeshaya Azulai and his son-in-law, Rabbi Avraham son of Dovid Pardo.
Unique features: Rare. The title page bears the signature of Rabbi Baruch Asman of Kiev, author of Chad V'Chalak, with a gloss in his hand on leaf 43a.
Condition: Very fine. Minimal aging stains.
