The Times of London - issue with the first publication of Lord Balfour's declaration of the establishment of a national home for Jews in the Land of Israel. London, November 9th, 1917.

Page 7, under the sensationalist headline "Palestine for the Jews,": The news of Lord Balfour's statement in his letter a week earlier (November 2) to Baron Rothschild was published. The newspaper quotes from the letter: "His Majesty's Government view with favour the establishment in Palestine of a national home for the Jewish people, and will use their best endeavours to facilitate the achievement of this object, it being clearly understood that nothing shall be done which may prejudice the civil and religious rights of existing non-Jewish communities in Palestine, or the rights and political status enjoyed by Jews in any other country."

The Balfour Declaration was an unprecedented political achievement by the Zionist movement - a world superpower such as Britain practically agreeing to extend its patronage of the Zionist movement and to help it realize its main goal. This led in the end, according to many opinions, to the establishment of the state of Israel. Important historic document.

The Times of London is one of the most important dailies in Britain and around the entire world. It has existed for approximately 250 years, and is published in about half a million copies a day. The Times is the first newspaper to carry this name,and it lent its name to many newspapers across the world, such as The New York Times and the Los Angeles Times.
