Chovot HaLevavot by Rabbeinu Bachayei with a Yiddish translation and the commentary Marpe L'Nefesh. Part two, in the printing press of the brothers Rabbi Chanina Lipa, Rabbi Aryeh Leib, and Rabbi Yehoshua Heschel Shapiro, grandsons of the rabbis of Slavita. Zhitomir, [1850].
[2], 360 pages. On the corner of the title page is a nice stamp of Rebbe Avraham Yehoshua Heschel Friedman of Adzad, the son of Rabbi Yitzchak of Bohush, son of Rabbi Shalom Yosef of Ruzhyn, son of Rabbi Yisrael of Ruzhyn.
Rabbi Avraham Yehoshua was born in 1858, son-in-law of his uncle Rabbi Menachem Nachum of Shtefenesht. From 1896 he succeeded his father as Rebbe, established his court in Adzar, and, during the First World War, moved to Galati, where he died in 1940. He was famous as a holy man, and hundreds of people flocked to him to be saved by his blessings. He suffered greatly but accepted it all with love. (Malchut SheB'malchut, Encyclopedia L'Beit Ruzhyn, part two, pages 330-333).
Not bound. Aging stains. The title page is cut off in the white margins. Fine condition.
