Dorot HaRishonim. Section three. History of the Jewish people by Rabbi Yitzchak Eizik Halevi. Berlin-Vienna, 1923.
This book relates Jewish history from the sealing of the Talmud through the end of the Geonic period. Stamp behind the title page [in Hebrew]: Library of Yisrael Friedman of Husiatyn.
Admor Yisrael Friedman of Husiatyn (1857-1948) was known as a holy person. He was an Admor of the Ruzhin dynasty and the last grandson of Rabbi Yisrael of Ruzhin. In 1894, he succeeded his father as Admor of Husiatyn, and thousands of Galician Jews visited him, including noted rabbis from throughout Galicia. In 1937, he immigrated to Eretz Yisrael, to Tel Aviv, where he earned a reputation as a holy person and was admired by all factions. The prayers he recited at the grave of the Ohr HaChaim when the Nazis were fast approaching Eretz Yisrael are a well-known story. Refer to: Alfasi, Encyclopedia L'Chassidut 2, 561-562.
Original red binding with embossing, slightly loose. Red cut edges. Very fine condition.
