First edition of the Chassidic book by the BeSh"T's leading disciple.

Ketonet Passim, Chassidic commentary on the weekly Torah Portions. By Rabbi Ya'akov Yosef HaKohen of Polonne, author of Toldot "as he had received from his primary rabbi, the well-known man of G-d, our teacher Rabbi Yisrael Ba'al Shem Tov." First edition. Kugel-Levin Press, Lvov [Lemberg], [1866]. The book before us remained in manuscript for nearly a hundred years, and in 1866 was printed for the first time.

The Admo"r the holy Rabbi Ya'akov Yosef HaKohen of Polonne [1695-1782] was one of the patriarchs of Chassidism. He was the leading disciple of the Ba'al Shem Tov and author of the well-known book on Chassidism, Toldot Ya'akov Yosef. After the passing of the BeSh"T in 1760, the holy Rabbi Ya'akov Yosef and the Maggid of Mezeritch served as the leaders of the Chassidic movement. In the book before us, he writes mainly things he himself heard from the BeSh"T, and he notes, 'I heard from my teacher' or 'I received from my teacher.'
