Signature on the title page: The small one, Yehoshua HaLevi Horowitz, Av Beit Din of Zilozitz. Rabbi Yaakov Yehoshua HaLevi Horowitz, Av Beit Din of Zilozitz, was the son of the gaon Rabbi Tzvi Hirsch HaLevi Horowitz, author of Minchat Levi, son of the gaon, author of Hafla'ah - was born c. 1770. He grew up with his grandfather, the "Hafla'ah," with whom he studied several tractates. He was the son-in-law of the gaon Rabbi Ephraim Zalman Margaliot, author of the Beit Ephraim, who spent a fortune on his dowry and supported him for many years. He passed away in Brody in 1842. He served as rabbi of Zilozitz (Toldot HaKehillot B'Polin p. 302-303, Encyclopedia L'Chachmai Galicia part II page 235).

Moderate condition. Aging stains. Lacking last leaf.
