Israel Lazarus (Julius) Mombach (1813-1880) was born in Pfungstadt, Germany to a family of cantors. As a youth (the year 1828) he received musical education from Enoch Eliasson, cantor of the Great Synagogue in London. He began to serve as choirmaster in 1841 and held this position until his passing. He was influenced by the composers Louis Lewandowski of Berlin and Salomon Sulzer of Vienna. In addition to being a choirmaster, he was also a talented pianist, a teacher at Jews' College, and a composer of liturgical music.

[10], 273 pages. Defects in the spine. Back binding detached, except for this, fine condition.
