13 sketches signed in the plate by Moshe Raviv [Vorobeichic], of synagogues in Safed. Published by Moshe Raviv, Artist's Colony, Safed. Ha'ari press and graphics, Safed. Shevat, 1980.

In the text included with these sketches, Raviv writes: "About fifty years ago, when I first moved to Safed, I fell in love at first site...the batei medrash and "kloizen" were especially close to my heart...the beautiful, famed synagogues of Safed are no less beautiful than the ones in Toledo and Cordovero, Spain, or other cities in the exiles of Poland and Ashkenaz...., since having settled in Safed in 1952, I did not stop sketching and painting the views of the city, with the synagogues at the forefront. I have many such sketches and paintings. Some are now being published on the leaves before us..."

Moshe Raviv Vorobeichic [1904-1995] was a prominent photomontage artist and photographer. He was one of the founders of the artist's colony in Safed. He was born in the Russian Empire in 1934 and later moved to Palestine. He was famed for his photography, poster designs and city emblems. He illustrated books for many publishing companies, designed and illustrated many newspapers and even published many books with his illustrations.

Interestingly, though these sketches were made at a relatively later date, they are not in the National Library and are not listed by the ULI - Union List of Israel [libraries].
