Auction No. 113

Opening $ 1,000
Estimate $ 1,500 - $ 2,000

Private, rare and unique collection sold as a whole. The collection is comprised of approximately 2200 volumes, which contain more than half a million leaves of Torah literature published from the 15th century through the 20th century. It should be noted that many of the books are rare and some have never been published. Some of the books contain handwritten glosses. The books were photocopied in the 1980s at several Israeli libraries for private research and were monographically printed on 16mm silver microfilm (which is used by libraries and research institutes and whose lifetime is approximately 500 years, unlike standard microfilm whose lifetime is approximately 20 years). Books are not photocopied and preserved in all libraries, and this was especially so during the 1980s, such that there is a possibility that some of the books have suffered wear and tear or have been stolen and this collection contains their only copies.

A list of the titles included in the collection can be viewed on Winner's site.

The collection is stored in 11 cardboard boxes containing the microfilms.
