The Admor Rabbi Yosef Landau, Av Beit Din of Iasi, author of Birkat Yosef [1791-1854], was one of the Chassidic leaders, a disciple of Rabbi Levi Yitzchak of Berdichev, Rabbi Yisrael of Ruzhin, Rabbi Baruch of Mezhibuzh and the rabbi of Apta.

The gaon Rabbi Dov Ber Adler HaCohen served as an adjudicator in Frankfurt am Main, he was the son of Rabbi Mordechai Adler, who was Av Beit Din in Hanover and cousin of the famous kabbalist Rabbi Nathan Adler of Frankfurt. Rabbi Nathan was rabbi of England and author of Netanyah LaGer. Known for his war against the Reform, in which he edited his friend R' Shlomo Trier's articles opposing them. Some of his Torah thoughts were printed by his brother Rabbi Gavriel Adler in the Kanfei Nesharim compilation in the book Lashon Zahav Offenbach 1823.

The renowned gaon Meir Dan Plotzky (1866-1928 Otzar HaRabbanim 13049) was a rabbinic leader in Poland in the early 20th century. He was one of the founders of Agudat Yisrael in Poland and a member of the Council of Torah Sages, a disciple of Rabbi Chaim Elazar Wachs, author of Nefesh Chayah, and of Rabbi Yehoshua of Kutna, author of Yeshuot Malko. He was appointed rabbi of Dvart in 1891. He was among those active in exposing the forged Talmud Yerushalmi by Shlomo Friedlander. The book is bound with Drush Tefillat Yesharim and with Divrei Moshe.
