Sefer Minchat Cohen by Rabbi Avraham HaCohen Fimintil, among the sages of Amsterdam and Hamburg. Includes three sefarim : Sefer MiMevo HaShemesh, Sefer HaTa’arovot and Sefer Mishmeret HaShabbat .
Includes three important and foundational sefarim . As the Chid”a writes in Sefer Shem HaGedolim (1:65), this sefer was well-received. Rabbi Chaim Alfandri wrote at the end of his sefer ( Mutzal M’Esh, Siman 1): Fortunate is this giant of a man, the author of Minchat Cohen z”l, who left no stone unturned … leaving nothing to add, and the entire land was illuminated with his honor.
The first part of the sefer Mevo HaShemesh is the most fundamental compilation on the establishment of the halachic time of bein hashmashot (twilight) and all leading Acharonim who dealt with this issue, including the Magen Avraham and the Pri Chadash (who discussed his studies a lot, as the Chid”a mentions), Chavat Ya’ir and Chok Ya’akov, deliberate his teachings and cite them in their halachic rulings.
The third part, Sefer HaTa’arovot , is one of the most important sefarim on these laws, such that the author of Pri Megadim , in his introduction to the laws of ta’arovet , arranged something of an abbreviated version of this sefer , writing: “I saw the Minchat Cohen by Rabbi Avraham HaCohen Afimintil is a wonderful work, showing his prowess and strength in Sefer HaTa’arovot . I decided to follow in his footsteps, and each new ruling that results from his words, I will write, and whether there is a difficulty or deliberation in his words.
