His rebbe, the Netziv, called him “a living Talmud”. He served as rabbi of Bodki, Smolensk and Kalvaria. He was renowned for his genius and authored the L’flagot Reuven series. He immigrated to Eretz Yisrael in 1938, and served as Rav”d of the Eidah HaCharedit. In [1949], he was appointed Gav”d, a position he maintained until his death in [1953].
