Metal relief, plaque, issued in honor of the opening of the Hebrew University in Jerusalem. Apparently the work of Ze’ev Raban. Bezalel Jerusalem, 1925.
12×25 cm. Attached with nails to a large wood plate measuring 17×31 cm.
The university is depicted according to the original building plan, with the National Library at its center (this building wasn’t built), as designed by Sir Patrick Geddes, with domes on its roof. Additional buildings, fountains, decorative trees and students reading. With Hebrew text, ‘The Hebrew University’. Stamped in the margins, Bezalel Jerusalem and Made in Palestina. The artist did not sign, but it is typical of Ze’ev Raban’s works. Rare.
Light crack on the wood plate, which is possibly from a later era. The relief is in very fine condition.
