Document of the Beit Vaad HaKlali signed by Rabbi Yitzchak Blazer and the gabbai of the Beit HaVaad, supporting the building plans of the Bikur Cholim Hospital on land outside the Old City. Jerusalem, [1907].

The hospital was established in the Old City in 1867 by the Perushim, under the auspices of the German consulate. In 1908, Yoel Moshe Solomon, a member of the hospital committee, purchased land outside the walls of the Old City. Although the cornerstone was laid in 1912, construction of the hospital was only completed after the First World War.
Rabbi Yitzchak Blazer (1837-1907), Rebbe Itzele Peterburger, was a leader of the mussar movement and a prominent disciple of Rabbi Yisrael Salant. He promoted settling in Eretz Yisrael and moved there in 1904. This letter was written about a month and a half before his death, in Av 1907.
