Unique Features: An early set of the books of the Levush. With all of the title pages and all of the index leaves.
Background: The author, Rabbi Mordechai Yaffe [1530-1612], one of the greatest halachic adjudicators. He named his great work after the verse in the Book of Esther (8:15) “And Mordechai went out from before the king in royal dress [levush malchut]…”. The entire work is called Levush Malchut, and each section has a different name taken from the verse.
Condition: Overall, fine condition. In part 1-[2] blemishes are restored with slight damage to text on the title page and the three subsequent leaves. Slight damage to the title page and subsequent leaf of part three. Parts 4 and 5 have a brown stain on the white margins over half of the book’s leaves. Aging stains in all sections. Bound in pleasant new semi-leather bindings.
