A machzor for the cantor in large format. The prayers and piyutim for Rosh Hashanah, with “Kavanot L’Tkiyat Shofar” of the Ari. At the end of the prayers of Rosh Hashanah is a colophon in which is written: “On the day on which “Ki tov” is repeated…in the month of mercy, the year 5595 [1834] according to the calculation of the Jewish people, the young one who writes, Shimshon Eliezer Baki, who blows the shofar and serves the holy congregation of Carmagnola.” At the end of Neilah are “the order of the verses said in the capital city of Torino at the end of Yom Kippur after the Kaddish in the great Italian synagogue, in order to end the great and awesome fast day with glory and dignity, and this is put here according to the custom of the holy congregation of Mantua in the year 5595 [1834] at the advice of our teacher Rabbi Hillel Baruch Shalom ben Moshe Kantoni…” A blank leaf was left before some of the prayers in order to draw a title page. Before Neilah is an illustration of a title page with the writing: “The order of Neilah – written here in Carmagnola in 5597 [1836].”
