Letter from Rebbe Baruch Yehoshua Yerachmiel Rabinowitz of Munkacs. Jerusalem, [1944].
[1] leaf on letterhead, 28×22 cm. His handwriting and signature.
The letter was sent to the Chief Rabbi, Rabbi Ben Zion Chai Uziel, in which he thanks him for his efforts on his behalf. This letter was written not long before his immigration to Israel, and when his wife, the daughter of the author of Minchat Elazar, was still alive. In the letter he describes the Chief Rabbi with tremendous praises.
Rabbi Baruch Yehoshua Yerachmiel Rabinowitz was born in 1915 to his father, Rebbe Natan David of Partziwa, a grandson of the “Yehudi HaKadosh” of Peshischa. He married the only daughter of Rebbe Chaim Elazar of Munkacs. The wedding took place in Munkacs in 1933, and was known as the largest Jewish wedding throughout Eastern Europe, with special trains to transport thousands of people. The wedding was even filmed by the American Fox company and was broadcast throughout the world. Following his father-in-law’s death in 1937, when he was only 22, he became the Rebbe of thousands of disciples. He was miraculously saved from the Holocaust and helped to save many Jews. He wrote Binat Nevonim about the Holocaust and Divrei Nevonim on the Torah.
