In the will his four sons – Mahalalel Yedidiya, David, Moshe, and Avraham Rafael – are mentioned. The document is signed by the witnesses “Avraham Gur Aryeh son of Ephraim Yechiel HaKohen” and “Elishama Meir son of Ephraim Ovadiah Padovani.”
Rabbi Avraham Gur Aryeh published an elegy on the death of Rabbi Yishmael HaKohen, the rabbi of Modena, in 1811.
Rabbi Elisha Meir Padovani, a disciple of Rabbi Yishmael HaKohen author of HaZera Emet, was a rabbi in Mantova and Padova and a great sage of the Talmud and the poskim. He died in 1830.
