30 lithographs depicting the Land of Israel, most of Jerusalem. Various publications - England, France and Germany, 19th Century.
Highlights: lithograph depicting Zachariah's tomb by David Roberts, streets of Jerusalem [German publication], Tower of David, Chizkiyahu's pool and the Tower of David by David Roberts, Mount of Olives, Jerusalem - general view - a number of lithographs from various angles, Mount Moriah, Gaza City - lithograph by L. Letronne, and lithographs by additional artists.
David Roberts [1796-1864], pioneer artist of the 19th century who came from London to paint in the East and spread his work among the British. In 1838, Roberts arrived in Egypt and the surrounding region. He painted views painted in watercolor for the first time, and in London he converted them to 248 lithograph plates with the help of lithographer Louis Haghe.
Eight of them are color and the remainder are black and white.
Various sizes and conditions. Average size 22x17 cm. Some are smaller or larger. Overall fine condition.

Ten etchings of biblical scenes. From the book Figvrews Historiqves dv Novveav Testament Paris 1679.
Among them: Rivkah on the camel meeting with Yitzchak, Eliezer and Rivkah at the well, Yaakov's dream, Yaakov and Rachel, Moshe in Egypt, Pharaoh's daughter and Moshe in the box, and another four etchings of scenes with King David.
Each leaf has two etchings on both sides: 14x20 cm. Leaf size" 23x34 cm. Fine condition.

Various scenes: Moshe and Pharaoh's magicians at the moment the staffs turn into snakes, the Egyptians drowning in the sea [Large engraving by Gerard hoet 'Amsterdam 1728], Moshe taking water from the rock, Aharon's staff growing a bud.

David Roberts [1796-1864]. English painter. Among the pioneer artists who came to paint in the Land of Israel in order to spread his paintings to the European public. Roberts visited Israel from 1838-1840 and painted views from the Holy Land in watercolor and oil. His paintings soon became the most beautiful created in the period. Upon his return to Britain, he prepared lithographs with Louis Haghe from 1842-1849 based on his paintings.
