10 letters and postcards written by a leader of the Breslov chassidut, Rabbi Eliezer Berland (b. 1937), to his teacher and rebbe, Mashgiach Shmuel Hominer (1913-1977). Also, a certificate testifying to Rabbi Berland’s integrity from Rabbi Langbarth, administrator of the Volozhin Yeshiva, and a number of letters that were written by Rabbi Yechezkel Berland, brother of Rabbi Eliezer, to Rabbi Shmuel Hominer. Also includes a note “Inspiration for Prayer” that belonged to Rabbi Shmuel Hominer.
Rabbi Shmuel Hominer (1913-1977) was a personality from the Old Yishuv. He authored many works of mussar and shemirat ha-lashon. He studied in Etz Chaim and was a disciple of Rabbi Isser Zalman Meltzer, who noted “that he excels in fear of G-d and elevated character traits.” When he was 26, he published his first work, Ikrei Dinim, a summary of the Chafetz Chaim. Over his lifetime, he published many other works of mussar, including Eved HaMelech.
