The author, the Rishon L’Tziyon Chacham Chaim David Chazan [1791-1869] served for fifteen years as the head of the rabbis of Izmir. After his immigration to the Land of Israel, he was appointed Rishon L’Tziyon and Chacham Bashi, with the two positions being united for the first time with the selection of Rabbi Chazan. He also authored: Torat Zevach (Salonika, 1852), Yishrei Lev (Izmir, 1870) and more books.
The Kabbalist Chacham Yichyeh Shneur [1903-1994] was the study partner of Rabbi Meir Abuhatzeira – the Baba Meir, and was a close disciple of Rabbi Yisrael Abuhatzeira – the Baba Sali. Like the members of the Abuhatzeira family, Chacham Yichyeh Shneur also adopted pious and ascetic practices. In 1961, he immigrated to the land of Israel and was appointed to serve as the rabbi of the Mussrara neighborhood of Jerusalem. He was known as a holy man and miracle-worker. He authored the series of books Yesh Me’Ayin .
