One side features a nice relief of David and Jonathan in military garb, shaking hands and the text “WAS IC UND DU MITEINANDER GEREDT HABEN” – German translation of Samuel 20;32. The reverse features an impressive relief of a tree, with David shooting arrows and Jonathan sitting by. With German text, “Don’t forget your friend”. Signed by artist I.R. Unique silver medal with a relief of Moses receiving the Torah on Mt. Sinai and the Decalogue with the Ten Commandments. German, 18th century. 39 mm. diameter, 18 grams. One side features Moses on Mt. Sinai receiving the Decalogue from angels, with clouds and lightening in the background. The reverse features the Tetragrammaton and the Decalogue with the text of the Ten Commandments in German. Light dent. Requires cleaning. VF.
Bronze medallion in honor of French General Christophe Léon Louis Juchault de Lamoricière (1806-1865). Particularly large and heavy: 80 mm. diameter. Bust of the general with the artist’s signature. The reverse features an impressive Biblical relief. French text. The General was very involved in the political events of 1848, and refused to give his allegiance to Emperor Napoleon III. After a number of military victories, he was defeated by the Italian army in 1860 and retired from military life. XF.
