Silver began working for the NBA in 1992, after the endorsement he received from David Stern. He had worked in a number of roles, deputy commissioner, then COO of NBA Entertainment. In 2003, Silver appeared on Time Magazine’s and CNN’s list of most influential people. Silver appeared several times on Sporting News’ list of 100 most influential people in sports.
Silver initiated the widespread use of returning gears at the ends of games, and the change in format of the finals.
