Collection of 37 Jewish bookplates of renowned personalities and Jewish institutions, designed by the best Jewish artisans, Europe and the Land of Israel – 20th century. Most of these bookplates have characteristic Jewish motifs.
Among the bookplates: Professor Boris Schatz’s personal bookplate designed for him by Ephraim Moshe Lilien, bookplate designed by Ephraim Moshe Lilien, minister Dov Yosef’s bookplate (governor of Jerusalem during the siege) – Jerusalem view hinting at the besieged Jerusalem designed by Lotte Berold, author Shmuel Eidelman’s private bookplate, large bookplate specially designed by the Torah V’Avodah movement 1953, Rabbi Avraham Chaim’s bookplate [1854-1944] with a picture of the great synagogue in Sighet (Hungary) where he served as rabbi, and more. Some of the bookplates are from engravings. (Including three large bookplates with impressive graphics, apparently not Jewish.)

* Leaf opening to reveal ‘L’Shanah Tovah,’ featuring illustrations of holy sites. Without publisher or printer’s name. C. 1920s.
* ” Mivrak Ezra, ” telegram designed by PAI youth organization, wishing Mazal Tov (in stencil print) upon the marriage of movement’s member, the groom Chaim Cohen. Sent from ‘Ezra,’ the movement’s London branch, early 20th century.
* Torah-Telegram – decorated with religious illustrations of a Torah scroll, Chanukah menorah, and Tablets of the Covenant alongside a “Keren HaYishuv” charity box.
* Telegram wishing Mazal Tov to bride and groom, ‘כפה פרשה לעני וידיה שלחה לאביון’ [‘Her hand is open to the poor and her hand is outstretched to the poverty-stricken’] illustrated with a star of David and a woman kindling Shabbat candles. Sent by a member of London’s Agudist Woman’s Group.
Four items in total. Average size: 21×13 cm. Slight tears on margins of ‘Shanah Tovah’ leaf, otherwise in fine condition.
* Torah V’Derech Eretz stock certificate, Jerusalem 1935, lithograph print with illustrations. On the reverse, a summary of company regulations, and company mission. 31×27 cm.
* Keren Shmuel L’Binyan Yerushalayim stock certificate, Goldberg lithograph print. Jerusalem 1920s. On the reverse, instructions in Yiddish and English. 23×38 cm.
Both certificates are in fine condition.
