An original Menorah made of a wooden rifle butt with the symbol of the Area Defense Forces. The body of the menorah is made of wood, on top of which are 9 candle holders [and shamash] made from the rifle’s shells. On the side of the base is the symbol of the Area Defense Forces. The Area Defense Forces was a military defense system to defend the county’s frontier areas. Its job was to work with the regular army units to block enemy invasion until army reserve units are mobilized. The Area Defense Forces were increased following the Yom Kippur War, when the possibility of the enemy being the first to strike arose and there was a great need for a defensive system which could be operated as soon as possible and temporarily block the enemy advance. In August 1977 it was decided to unify the Area Defense Force with the Civil Defense Command. Length: 30 cm. Height: 6 cm. Fine condition.
