A letter in the handwriting and with the signature of Rabbi Avraham Dov Auerbach of Tiberius regarding arranging matters of kashrut. The letter was sent to Rabbi D. Peretz in 1978. In the letter Rabbi Auerbach expresses his amazement that Rabbi Peretz approached him as the authority responsible for taking care of the kashrut of a particular factory, when it was agreed that Rabbi Peretz should be responsible for its kashrut. In the letter’s margin Rabbi Auerbach adds a comment: “I am puzzled that his honor issued confirmations of terumot and ma’asrut to the settlements in the area. I have a legal contract of personal partnership with all of the kibbutzim, and only I can deal with the topic”. Rabbi Avraham Dov Auerbach was born in 1935 in the Sha’arei Chesed neighborhood of Jerusalem, son of the posek of the generation, Rabbi Shlomo Zalman Auerbach. He studied in the Etz Chaim yeshiva, and in the Slabodka yeshiva in Bnei Brak. He later became ‘the Rabbi of Tiberius’ and has a tremendous influence on religious life in the city.
