A receipt from the Slabodka “Knesset Yisrael” yeshiva for the sum of 20 lirot, from 12 Shevat 1934, signed with the signature of the Rosh Yeshiva Rabbi Yitzchak Isaac Sher.
Rabbi Chaim Yitzchak Isaac Sher [1875-1952], a Mussar giant, Rosh Yeshiva of the Slabodka yeshiva in Lithuania and later in Israel. In his youth he studied from Rabbi Baruch Ber Leibowitz, and then in the Volozhin yeshiva. When visiting Slutsk he met Rabbi Natan Zvi Finkel – the Alter of Slabodka – for the first time, and soon became his disciple. Several years later he became the Rosh Yeshiva of Slabodka, and after his immigration to Israel served as its Rosh Yeshiva until his death in 1952.
