An article for the festival of Shavuot from the year [1898] by Rebbe Shalom Dov Ber of Lubavitch.
Handwritten in pleasant handwriting, [20] pages. 23×18 cm.
Bound with the article is the Rashab’s response to the topic of Zionism: “Ohr la-yesharim neged ha-shittah ha-zionit” copied together with a collection of letters from great rabbis voicing their opposition to Zionism, including Rabbi David Friedman of Karlin, Rabbi Chaim HaLevi Soloveitchik, the Rogatchover, and others.
The letters were written in the years 1899-1900. Approximately 10 pages.
Ohr LaYesharim was printed in Warsaw in 1900, here are only the words of the rabbis without the editors’ polemic words.
Another response regarding Zionism is enclosed, in different handwriting and without a signature, on two different leaves which were discovered among the bound leaves of the manuscript. This response was apparently omitted from the above book – perhaps due to the censor, because it mentions the founder of Christianity. The question was copied in the bound manuscript, but the response is only found in the appended manuscript.
New binding. Pleasant writing. Very fine condition.
