The first title page bears an owner signature: פייבל פלויט מקאלין יע”א. Rabbi Feivel Chizkiya Plaut (1818-1895) was the rabbi of Nagysurany. He was born in Kolin and was a close disciple of the Chatam Sofer. He authored Likutei Chaver ben Chaim, 11 sections, which includes many Torah teachings and behaviors of his teacher. He writes that he was sick for almost an entire year following the death of his great teacher.
