Stamps of Rabbi Shlomo Yosef Zevin, also from his time as rabbi of Kazimirov. On the book’s leaves are dozens of comments in his handwriting. Some of the comments refer to the rulings of the Alter Rebbe of Lubavitch, which sometimes do not match what is written in this book.
Rabbi Shlomo Yosef Zevin (1885-1978) was born in the city of Kazimirov in the region of Pinsk and learned in the Mir yeshiva. A tremendous Torah scholar, he received semichah from Rabbi Yosef Rosen (the Rogatchover) and wrote many Torah books and articles. He served as the first editor of the Encyclopedia Talmudit, defined the encyclopedia’s style, and even wrote the list of all of the entries. He was a member of Chief Rabbinate Council of Israel and the first chairman of the Committee of Lubavitch Rabbis in the Holy Land.
