Three banknotes received from Rebbe Menachem Mendel Schneerson of Lubavitch.
* A banknote of 2 Australian dollars, which Rabbi Levi Bistritzky received from the Rebbe, and he wrote on it “Shaliach mitzvah before the journey.”
* A note of 50 Israeli lira which Rabbi Levi Bistritzky received from the Rebbe, and he wrote on it: “Shaliach mitzvah before the journey.” He also added: “I redeemed the firstborn of Reb Yisrael Ori with this note on [May 29, 1979].”
Rabbi Levi Bistritzky (1949-2002), a member of the Shluchim L’Eretz HaKodesh (Emissaries to the Holy Land) served as the rabbi of Kiryat Chabad in Safed and a member of the Committee of Chabad Rabbis in the Holy Land. In 1993 he was appointed as the chief rabbi of Safed. Most of his books focus on the Shulchan Aruch of the Alter Rebbe.
* An American dollar banknote which Rabbi Pinchus Leibush Herzl received from the Rebbe. He signed it with his initials: “P.L.H.”
Rabbi Pinchas Leibush Herzl was a Chabad mashpia in Jerusalem and was known as the elder of the Chabad mashpi’im in Israel. He died in 2014.
The notes have folding marks. Without tears. Fine condition.
