Ashlei Ravrevei – Shulchan Aruch Yorah Deah Part II, with the Sha”ch and Ta”z commentaries. Complete copy.
Print by the Admo”r Rabbi Shmuel Shapira of Slavuta, grandson of Rabbi Pinchas of Koritz. Following a blood libel, he was sent to walk between two lines of Cossacks whipping him with 1500 lashes on his bare back. It is told that each time his kippah fell off his head, he would stop and not move, and continue to be whipped until his kippah was put back on his head. Rabbi Shmuel sat in prison for 17 years, and after being released, he began to conduct himself as an Adm”or.
It is well-known that possessing a book from the Slavuta press is a segulah for protection of the home, and success. The copy before us survived a fire, as can clearly be seen from the scorch marks on several individual leaves (!), but was almost entirely undamaged.
222 leaves. 38 cm. Bluish paper, poor-moderate condition. Detached leaves. The last five leaves are stuck together as a result of dampness. Worming damage. Minimal scorch marks with damage to a number of isolated words. Worn binding.
