Unique Features: Rabbi Shlomo Zalman HaCohen’s signature is on the title page. Rabbi Shlomo Zalman son of Rabbi Wolf HaCohen was one of the heads of the congregation of the Perushim in Safed. He moved to Jerusalem after the looting, where he became one of the leaders of the community. He signed on regulations and letters along with Rabbi Yisrael of Shklov. Background: The author was the rabbi of three regions in the Zamut district of Lithuania: Keidan, Vizhun and Birzh, and he authored Gaon Tzvi al HaTalmud (Prague, 1737). He passed away in 1689, and the manuscript was in the Rabbi Dov Ber HaLevi of Kaminetz’s possession, who arranged it for print, but passed away before he managed to print it. Miriam, Rabbi Dov Ber’s daughter, ‘weeping copiously,’ asked her husband Mordechai Madil Segal of Schwabach to print it. He agreed and printed the book, and gave it the name Aspaklariah HaMeirah .
Condition: Fine. Aging stains. Isolated worming holes. The titles on several leaves are cut off. Old loose binding.
