Birkat Avraham . Chassidic elucidations on the Torah and Talmudic novellae by Rabbi Avraham Elchanan, Av Beit Din of Plontsch, disciple of the righteous Rabbi Levi Yitzchak of Berdichev. Warsaw, 1870. First edition.
The first part includes elucidations on the Torah portions and compilations, and the second section is comprised of Talmudic novellae. The author passed away in 1835 and the book was printed by his grandson. With enthusiastic approbations by Chassidic leaders. Owners’ signatures, and stamp of the Chachmei Lublin yeshivah library.
The author was a disciple of Rabbi Levi Yitzchak of Berdichev and a friend of the Chozeh of Lublin’s. As attested to by the Admor Rabbi Yaakov Aryeh of Radzimin, he was renowned among the righteous and holy of his generation. When he was offered the rabbinate of Plontsch or Dombrova, he asked for guidance from the Chozeh of Lublin, who recommended Plontsch. There is a letter at the beginning of the book which had been set by the Chozeh of Lublin to the author, in which he calls him, “the great light … wise and devout” and signs, “he who loves him with an intense love and anticipates his good and his greatness, and the good of all those who are with him always.” Refer to Alfasi, Chassidut A , 55-56.
