“For a good and sweet new year materially and spiritually, with blessings and success, M. Schneerson” (some of the Rebbe’s blessings)
“Shanah Tovah” letter loaded with wonderful “material and spiritual” blessings from the Admo”r Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneerson of Lubavitch to the renowned Chassid, Rabbi Nachman Kovalsky. Brooklyn, New York. Late Elul, 1953.
The letter was sent on the eve of Rosh HaShanah, and the Rebbe blessed with abundance for the new year: “Shalom U’Vrachah, for the upcoming year, soon arriving upon us and the entire Jewish people for goodness and blessing, I hereby express my blessing for you and all the members of your household, may they be well, with a blessing to be written and sealed for a good, sweet year, materially and spiritually.”
Here the Rebbe adds, in his own hand, the huge blessing “with blessings and success, M. Schneerson.” Elder Chassidim have the tradition that the blessing for “success” contains within it all possible blessings, as the literal meaning is that anything that the recipient of the blessing undertakes – will be successful! How much more so when it is written the Rebbe’s own script, as nothing he says goes unfulfilled!
Refer to the Hebrew catalog text for a brief biography of the Admo”r Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneerson .
The Rebbe was already known as a supernatural wonder-worker in his lifetime; he enacted miracles like the ancients. This is common among true leaders of the Jewish people, in all generations and across all circles. The innovation for Lubavitcher Rebbe was that even after he passed away – so say Chaba”d Chassidim – his printed writings, and how much more so his manuscripts, still enact miracles – no less – and possibly even more – than during his lifetime, as our Sages said (Chulin 7b): “Tzaddikim are greater after their deaths than during their lives”!
