There are many corrections, erasures and comments along the leaves of this booklet, all in Rabbi Moshe Feinstein’s hand. At the end of the booklet, he apologizes for such, writing, “Forgive me for sending you the first draft, as I am rushing to send it and don’t have the time available to copy it over.”
These responsa were printed in his monumental work,
Shu”t Iggerot Moshe Part II, Yoreh Deah A siman 7, a lengthy responsa with 9 sections; Part II, Yoreh Deah A siman 27; and in Part IV, Orach Chaim B siman 113.
Rabbi Moshe Feinstein [1895-1986] was a leader of American Jewry. He was one of the leading halachic adjudicators in the post-Holocaust era, chairman of Agudat Yisrael’s Council of Torah Sages in the United States, and head of Mesivtha Tifereth Jerusalem in New York. He is also known for his book series
Shu”t Iggerot Moshe .
Rabbi Ephraim Greenblatt [1932-1914] was a halachic adjudicator and author of
Rivevot Ephraim . He was one of the leading halachic decisors of our generation and foremost disciple of Rabbi Moshe Feinstein.
