Written on the title page by the disciple: “This is a notebook of Torah novellae that pour out of the living well of Torah, the Admo”r, the great luminary … [many honorifics] Rabbi Shimshon Neufeld, son-in-law of the great rabbi of Tarnów [Rabbi Menachem Mendel Tannenbaum], by the small one, Yechezkel Shlomo Grossman of Waitzen … in 1902 [chronogram: ב’י’א’ת’ ג’ו’א’ל’ צ’ד’ק’ ב’ב’י’א’], here in Tarnów …” Not printed.
On the leaf after the title page, the disciple wrote his name in an acrostic. The disciple signs his name at the end of each lecture. In the first part of the notebook, he writes novellae on Tractate Beitzah, and in the second, on Tractate Chulin. The novellae on Chulin begin on page 16a, where he wrote “The evening of 10 Tevet, which falls out on Friday of the week VaYechi is read, 1902 … the topic Dirach Chulin , leaf 96, which we studied at the beginning of the winter of 1902 in Tarnów.”
