Collection with thousands of documents and newspaper clippings about the Chabad movement from the 1970s through the end of the 1990s. Sixteen binders crammed with authentic material that reveals the movement’s powerful influence throughout the world. The collection includes hundreds of photos that were published over years in Jewish and world newspapers [including prominent articles in the New York Times] regarding events of the chassidut, amongst the chassidim themselves and amongst the population at large. Notices that accompanied various events [celebratory meals in honor of finishing tractates, Hachnasat Sefer Torah, important conventions and more]. Includes internal polemics on various subjects. Along with, hundreds of newspaper photos of the Rebbe of Lubavitch in his youth and later years, as Admor officiating at “tish,” distributing dollars, near his house, at important meetings and more. It additionally includes newspaper clippings of photos of tens of prominent Chabad activists at different chassidic centers over the years, photos and articles regarding non-Jewish celebrities who had some connection with the chassidut or the Rebbe, photos of politicians – Israeli [putting on Tefilin through Chabad, meeting with the Rebbe and more] Europeans or Americans – next to the Rebbe or attending Chabad activities, movie actors and singers [including non-Jewish one] who met the Rebbe or were Chabbad chassidim [R’ Shlomo Carlebach, Avraham Fried and more], social activities in different Chabad frameworks, activities for women, sport actiivies, activities by the “shluchim” throughout the world, Chabad schools [including those in the Soviet Union], many photos of the Crown Heights neighborhood, the polemic between the Lubavitcher Rebbe and Rabbi Shach and more. The portfolios are organized in chronological order with short handwritten descriptions, with dates and important comments regarding the material [these notes were written when these clippings were published]. Each folder includes material from a specific time period. The clippings and documents were carefully chosen and depict the most important events in the history of Chabad during these years. The collection was collected methodically and with much thought by a prominent Chabad rabbi who invested his energies into this monumental project. 14 large binders, 29×38 cm and two packages.
