Sefer Yismach Moshe on Chumash Vayikra. Chassidic work by the G-dly Kabbalist Rabbi Moshe Teitelbaum of Ujhely, patriarch of the Sighet-Satmar dynasty, known by the name of this sefer , as the ‘Ba’al Ha Yismach Moshe. ” First edition. Lvov, 1851. Pedigree copy.
First edition of the famous Chassidic work Yismach Moshe by Rabbi Moshe Teitelbaum of Ujhely – leading Admo”r of Hungary, whose amulets shook the world. It was said that these amulets carried themselves like living beings. The sefer was arranged by his beloved grandson, the Admo”r, the author of Yitev Lev . In the introduction to the third edition of the sefer , it is related in his name that once, as he was arranging the writings, he considered changing their order so that they would be more easily understandable. He then fell into a deep sleep. His sacred grandfather, the ‘Yismach Moshe’, appeared before him and told him, “Son, observe that when the lulav is held in the position that it grows, it is suitable to be used with a blessing, but if it is turned with the leaves facing down, then it can be used as a broom to sweep the floor, ” and the wise person will understand. It follows that everything printed in this work was written carefully and with great integrity.
