75:3-64 leaves, 31.5 cm. There is a known Chiddushei HaRitva printed in Amsterdam the same year that contains novellae on five tractates with approbations and a general title page. Here are novellae on Tractates Eiruvin and Ketubot with an unknown title page that notes “Chiddushei HaRitva on Tractates Eiruvin and Ketubot.” The novellae were printed in the same order as the known edition.
It seems that Rabbi Avraham Horowitz, editor of this Chiddushei HaRitva, was also the editor of the famed Sha’ar HaShamayim prayerbook of the Shl”a. After printing the prayerbook in Amsterdam [1717], he decided to continue gratifying his father, Rabbi Yeshaya Horowitz, and his grandfather, Rabbi Sheftel Horowitz, by printing the Chiddushei HaRitva with supplements from the Horowitz family. He explains his decision in his lengthy introduction. This Chiddushei HaRitva, with the novellae of the Shl”a and his son, was arranged by Rabbi Avraham Horowitz Segal as a continuation of his work in printing the Sha’ar HaShamayim prayerbook.
Old, detached binding. Minimal marginal tears and reinforcements of solitary leaves at the beginning and end. Aging stains. Moderate condition.
