Unique work about the history of the Hebrew language which traces Hebrew language usage throughout Jewish history, attempting to determine until when Hebrew was used as a living language, by Eliezer Ben-Yehudah, ‘Reviver of the Hebrew language.’ The author wrote this book while we was staying in New York. It is one of the “gateways” to the Ben-Yehudah dictionary. At the conclusion of his introduction, the author writes: “New York, at the end of the days of exile, Shevat, second year since the redemption of the Land of Israel by the English armies with the cooperation of the Jewish Brigades.” At the end of the book, he predicts: “One more generation and the Hebrew language is dead …” 132 pp. 17 cm.
