6 colored New Year’s cards. Bakelite. Yiddish. Germany. 1890-1900.
All are made of two sections that open. The interior features blessings, in Yiddish in square Hebrew letters and in English. Some feature a note on the back that they were printed in Germany. Printed on Bakelite. [Bakelite is a thin, stiff material that preceded plastic]. The interior greetings are printed on paper. The exterior Bakelite and the interior section are connected with a colored ribbon. One of the blessings is addressed [in Yiddish] ‘to my sister’.
