Collection of Torah letters from R’ Eliezer Moshe Slotzkin.
Eliezer Moshe was born in Mohilev. He was successful in business in his youth, and became wealthy. In 1909, he ascended to the Land of Israel and acquired several plots of land in the young city of Rehovot. He was known there as “HaNadvan.” During WWI, he was very helpful to the wretched and starving residents of the city. After the War, he was very active on behalf of the Yishuv, and was in close contact with British military personnel. He was a member of Agudat Yisrael which was at the time led by R’ Yitzchak Yerucham Diskin and R’ Yosef Chaim Sonnenfeld. He was also a member of Va’ad HaRabbanim HaMeuchad at the beginning of the Mandate period. He conducted an extensive correspondence with Rabbi Kook, with whom he was friendly (published).
He passed away in 1945 and was buried in the Mount of Olives.
This lot reveals that Slotzkin was an expert Talmudic scholar, as attested by the content of several Torah letters discussing deep and complex topics!
