Halachic responsum relating to the kashrut of a get disputed between Ashkenazic and Sephardic sages – handwritten responsum from Rabbi Yitzchak of Butshetsh, a Safed dayan , and sent to the gaon Rabbi Shmuel Salant.
Inter alia , Rabbi Yitzchak writes an interesting detail about the difference in study style between the Ashkenazic and Sephardic sages, writing as follows:
‘… I saw all they had to say is built on foundations of recent Sephardic geonim who are not well-known to us … and this is not the way of Ashkenazic geonim , who draw their sources from the Talmud and early poskim …”
