“Success and length of days and years, glad tidings, M. Schneerson” (blessings from the Rebbe in his handwriting)
Important and lengthy letter from the Admo”r Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneerson of Lubavitch integrated with huge blessings handwritten and signed by the Rebbe, and with his signature. Brooklyn, New York. Tuesday, the second day of Chanukah [26 Kislev] 1971.
This letter is integrated with the huge blessings from the Rebbe, in his hand. “Success and length of good days and years, and glad tidings.” The Rebbe waves the banner of the days of segulah during which this letter is written, which of course amplify the power of its blessing. The Rebbe listed five reasons for the immense segulah value of the day:
1. First, the Rebbe emphasizes at the beginning of the letter that he is speaking of the days of Chanukah, (there is obviously no need to expand on this).
2. Another advantage the Rebbe indicates is that he is speaking of “the conclusion of seven days from 19 Kislev, the redemption of the Alter Rebbe (in 1899).”
3. A third advantage of this day: The Rebbe quotes the Alter Rebbe in this letter saying that it is yahrzeit of the sacred Rebbe (the maggid of Mezeritch, the Alter Rebbe’s teacher).
4. A fourth virtue: The Rebbe indicates that it is Tuesday, the third day of the week, ‘special in that it was when “ki tov” was stated twice.’
5. The fifth virtue: The Rebbe emphasizes that also on the original day of Chag HaGeulah (in 1899), that year was identical to the year when the letter was being written, when 19 Kislev also fell on a Tuesday.
What a huge privilege and huge segulah to have the merit of this sacred amulet, written during these sacred days of segulah, by the hand of a unique tzaddik of the generations, with the huge blessing for “success” – which is inclusive of all blessings (this is accepted among elder Chassidim – refer to the previous item), not only for one-time success for one issue, but “for lengthy days and years”!
Given that the Rebbe was discussing the issue of the double segulah of these days – “double goodness, ” the Rebbe writes later in the letter something of a Chassidic essay (including references) about the issue of doubling in mitzvahs and good deeds, and the Rebbe connects this to the days of Chanukah, when the letter was written. This in-depth addition is actually larger than the primary original part of the letter.
