Manuscript including 6 lines dealing with an appeal and request to save pure education in the Land of Israel, by Rabbi Ya’akov Yisrael Kanievsky, the “Steipler.”
“Who am I, a poor person, to present myself before his honor the gaon with requests – yet due to the great pain and anxiety regarding matters which are the primary principles of maintaining our holy Torah …” so wrote Rabbi Yisrael Ya’akov Kanievsky in an emotional appeal to Rabbi Aharon Kolter.
This draft deals with the ‘education decree’ in an affair whose details are not mentioned here. However, the topic here is opposition to government supervision of Chinuch Atzma’i institutions. The Steipler’s request is laid out before Rabbi Aharon Kotler (not mentioned in the draft) who was devoted to founding Chinuch Atzma’i in the Land of Israel, and toiled to raise funds for it.
